I feel like The Mirage Method is a guide for how to deal with certain situations in both business and life. For example, Michael explains how he was able to balance generosity and compassion toward his tenants while still being firm and business-minded. He also shows how different situations call for different responses, which is something I have not seen talked about much in other entrepreneurial books.
He is very honest about the hardships he faced, including a really difficult situation with one of his children, while still trying to stay on top of his business. I thought he gave really good examples of how to manage the personal and business sides of life, especially when both became difficult.

In reading Mike’s memoir, “The Mirage Method”, I not only had the opportunity to learn about the background and history of the intricacies behind what has made Mike such a successful real estate entrepreneur, but also to read wisdom I believe to be one of the most important messages to all who are striving to accomplish a life similar to Mike’s. That message, found in the chapter “The Loss of Kinsley”, is thus: “...wealth was hollow without love”. The underlying message of the importance of a solid foundation built on love–love from family, community, and mentorship–abounds throughout “The Mirage Method”. While many real estate investors seeking advice from Mike’s success may be looking for a detailed “how-to” outline, my takeaway message from this read is never to stop practicing thanks and gratitude for where we are taken, the challenges we overcome, and what we are blessed with throughout life. Mike’s story is one of tenacity, perseverance, and living a purpose-driven life that I believe we all can learn from.
